Happy Spirit Day 2023: Wishes, Images, Messages & Quotes

It is customary to celebrate Spirit Day on the third Thursday in October, which falls on October 20 this year. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the bullying and harassment that members of the LGBT community endure. There are millions of LGBT people in the world, and many more have not come out publicly. The sexual orientation of such a wide group of people shouldn’t cause them to feel excluded or marginalized. But regrettably, it is the case in practice. L.G.B.T.Q. youths face harassment everywhere they go because of who they are. Transgender people need to have more rights that are safeguarded.

The origins of Spirit Day

The inaugural Spirit Day event was held on October 20, 2010, thanks to her perseverance and hard effort. In response to defamatory coverage of L.G.B.T.Q. individuals, GLAAD, an American non-governmental media monitoring organization, was created. Her post went viral online and caught their notice. The organization and promotion of the day are now handled by GLAAD, which also offers Spirit Day resource packs to help ally youths fight bullying in their own schools.

It has increased in prominence and appeal throughout time. Millions of people currently take part in it, including organizations like media outlets, sports teams, corporations, and schools. Those who participate in Spirit Day also don purple to encourage L.G.B.T.Q. youth and pay tribute to the area’s suicide victims.

  • Supporter of LGBT rights

People who identify as LGBT+ are frequently violated. All they want is to understand one another and not be harassed or treated unfairly.

Why We Appreciate Spirit Day

  • Love is Love

Nobody should tell someone who to love or not to love. There is no manual for love; it is a human emotion that comes from the heart. Because they don’t fall into a particular stereotype, people who love people of the same gender shouldn’t be subjected to bullying.

  • LGBTQ individuals are people

The L.G.B.T.Q. community consists of individuals who, like us, get up every day, go to work, and strive to lead dignified lives. The least people can do is help L.G.B.T.Q. people and demonstrate compassion for them in a hostile society.

  • Justice for all

Although we all assert that we live in a free and just society, LGBTQ persons, unfortunately, do not. It is really against the law to love someone who is the same gender in many nations. Everyone must be treated equally in order for society to fully grow and allow for respectful living.
