The Islamic new year 2023 is also called an Arabic new year or Hijri new year. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic year. It began when the Holy Prophet ( S.A.W ) migrated from Makkah to Madina with His companions. The day starts after the sunset in Islam. We have this day on different dates every year because it is 11 to 12 days shorter. So, The Islamic New Year is coming up soon, and many people may not know what to expect. What is Islamic New Year?

The Islamic New Year is the first day of the Hijri calendar. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, which is based on the Christian era, the Hijri calendar is lunar-based. That means that its months are determined by the moon’s phases, as opposed to the sun.

This means that the Islamic New Year can fall anywhere between September and December on the Gregorian calendar.
